History of Bickford Ranch

Long before homes were planned here, the foothills of Bickford Ranch were home to the Nisenan Maidu. You can still see their history in the grinding rocks carved into granite around Lincoln and Catta Verdera, including the big one on the golf course.

Then in the late 1800s, John Herbert Bickford arrived, fell in love with the land, and built a cattle and dairy ranch that stayed in his family for nearly a century. When the Bickfords sold the property in the early 1980s, it began its long journey from ranchland to the master planned community we see taking shape today.
